About Lancing

Packaging machinery knowledge applied to coding

Lancing supplies packaging machinery across filling, capping, labelling, conveying, shrinkwrapping and end-of-line automation. Inkjet coding often sits between these machines, so the correct installation has to suit the wider line rather than sit as an isolated component.

This site is designed around practical inkjet coding requirements: date codes, batch codes, lot numbers, barcodes, QR codes and traceability marks on the packaging formats UK manufacturers use every day.

Application led

We start from the pack, line speed and code requirement.

Integration aware

We consider conveyors, sensors, encoders, mounting and operator access.

UK focused

How projects are assessed

Engineering evidence behind an inkjet coder recommendation

Lancing has worked with packaging machinery for more than 40 years. That wider machinery experience matters because a coder has to work with the product flow, conveyor, controls, guarding and operator routine around it, not only produce a good sample in isolation.

Start with the real pack

Selection begins with representative products and packaging, the intended code, the actual coding position and the condition of the surface at the point of print. Cold, wet, dusty, coated or variable packs should be identified before a technology is shortlisted.

Review the complete line

Line speed, product pitch, guides, sensing, encoder requirements, available space, electrical interfaces and downstream handling are reviewed so the printer can be mounted and triggered consistently.

Agree proof before supply

Where suitability depends on adhesion, dry time, barcode quality or product handling, the acceptance method should be agreed using production-grade samples. Final model data belongs in the quotation, manual and approved test record.

What Inkjet Coder UK covers

This site is the Lancing resource for continuous inkjet, thermal inkjet, large-character and handheld inkjet systems. It concentrates on direct, variable marking of products, primary packs and secondary packaging.

Clear ownership across Lancing specialist sites

Inkjet Coder UK does not try to duplicate every coding or packaging technology. For ribbon-based thermal transfer overprinting, hot foil and broader coding comparisons, use Lancing Coding Machinery. Label-based print-and-apply systems are covered by Print & Apply UK. Complete multi-machine projects belong with Packaging Lines UK.

Company details and the wider Lancing machinery range are available on the Lancing UK company page.
