Maintain approved product, message, shelf-life rule, barcode data and print location in a controlled source with named ownership.
Use a product code, recipe, scanner or production order to call the correct message where the project risk justifies it.
Restrict message editing, date overrides and template changes, and retain an audit record where required by the quality system.
Automatic data can still be wrong because of mapping, master-data or timing errors. Check the first product against the production order and challenge the response to missing, duplicate or out-of-range data.
Remove previous products, packaging, labels and retained work before selecting the next coding job.
