Choosing a batch code printer

A good batch code printer is selected from the production problem rather than the brochure. The main questions are: what material are you printing onto, how fast is it moving, how much space is available, what code height is needed and how often does the operator change product?

For bottles and containers, continuous inkjet is often the first technology to assess. For cartons, labels and sleeves, thermal inkjet is often a cleaner high-resolution option. For outer cases and boxes, large character inkjet can reduce labels and pre-printed packaging. For short runs, handheld inkjet can provide a practical low-cost route.

Select the batch coder by production method

Use a portable coder for controlled manual work, a bolt-on coder for an existing conveyor, or an integrated conveyor station where the product needs its own handling section.

LU-DC1S handheld coder

For short runs, varied pack formats, rework and jig-assisted manual coding where operator movement can be controlled.

LU-IIP600-B bolt-on coder

For automatic sensor-triggered coding on an existing stable conveyor, including pre-labelled carton panels.

LU-DC127 inline coder

For a compact self-contained thermal inkjet station with its own conveyor, printhead, sensor and touchscreen controller.

Send the batch format, pack samples, expected output and the current handling method.
